Well I had some successful sewing and some not so much. I took my mom on a vacation cruise down to mexico one time and we went on a craft cruise with Crafty Chica . We had a BLAST. I did get a little bit sick. But mom was zinging all over the place even when I was down for the count. While we were there we met some great girls and are still in touch with some of them to this day.
One lady made me and mom this knitting bag. I was knitting socks at the time and was working on that more than my Crafty Chica projects. Sorry Chica! She showed me the one she had and told me she had sewn it herself and had made all her friends these bags. It was awesome. So we gave her money to make us both one. A few weeks later my bag came in the mail from Seattle Washington.
I love that bag and have taken it all over the United States in my travels.
Well I thought I would recreate that bag and make me another one. And to commemorate the event by making it with skulls fabric. One, I love skulls and so does Crafty Chica..she also loves chihuahua’s I think that is why I was so drawn to her in the first place. We are true sisters in the heart.
Any way I had bought some fabulous fabric that had skulls on them and recreated the pattern. I didn’t mess up one time! Wallah… I now have me a brand new knitting bag and also the pattern so I can make more if I want to. This bag has a little handle that slips into another one on the back to close the bag and slip around your wrist. I didn’t take a good picture of that part. It also has pockets on the outside. The inside fabric is that pretty skull pattern you see on the front pocket.
So the bag is lined, and square on the bottom. I think I did good and no mistakes. Yippee!
What sewing didn’t work out as planned. I bought a new barbie for my coming birthday but she is coming to me nude. So she needs some clothes. Thought I would practice up my sewing barbie doll clothes for sometime in the future if I get some Grandkids or not. I still love the barbie dolls.
Well the dress is not that great, I don’t like the skirt it’s too big and very hard to sew in the round. Next time I will find a pattern that is not round but a square piece for the bottom so I can just gather in the top part and it will make it way easier to hem up the bottom.
I also think I will cut out two pieces for the top to make it lined. I don’t like the look of the raw edges on the inside and they really are a pain to get sewn down.
I can tell you another thing. I sewed this on my old sewing machine too. I tried to sew it on my newer brother machine but it would always get tangled in the first few stitches. Maybe it’s just my machine but I am just loving sewing on my old Singer! What are you guys sewing?
